ABOUT US
We would like to thank you for visiting our website, and encourage you to contact us with any questions or comments. We look forward to meeting new dairy goat breeders, and try to stay connected to our dairy goat friends.
We wouldn't be where we are today without the love, support, and dedication of our friends. We would like to thank all dairy goat breeders that are also working alongside us to promote and improve the different beautiful breeds of dairy goats. A huge thanks also goes out to our incredibly dedicated friends, Miranda Al-Mouradi, Levi and Josh Campbell, Jenna Petesch, Sara Koehn-Walberg, Danni Louie, Deborah Mangelsdorf, DVM, and Tessa Maggiulli, DVM for their love and support over the years.
We (Megan and Russell) have been together since October 2011, and were married November 4, 2017. It's wonderful to have a best friend in a life long partner, and we share many hobbies together. Besides goats, Megan and Russell both love video games, Marvel, Sci-Fi shows (if you haven't watched Stargate- seriously consider it), and stand-up comedy. We also have a passion for music and enjoy pop punk and related genres. You will find many of our dairy goats are named after some of these things!
Megan has been animal-focused her entire life. She grew up with dairy goats being in the family- starting with her grandparents' Nubian and then Oberhasli herd (under the herdname Uponahill). Throughout high school, she was very involved with the dairy goat herd as well as training the family's horses. After graduating in 2007, she moved to Manhattan, Kansas to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science & Industry with a Production Management focus. Her coursework focused on dairy and nutrition science, with an emphasis in equine science (earning her an Equine Science Certificate). She graduated from Kansas State University in 2012. That fall, she started an internship at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, and became a full time zookeeper in the Lied Jungle a few months later. She currently works as a payroll processor. Russell is an IT technician and system administrator.
We attained full ownership of the herd in 2012, and changed our herdname to Deidrägo, based on di drago (Italian for "of dragon" or "dragonborn"). The herd was previously named New Dreams, and bred Oberhasli, Alpine, LaMancha, and Experimental dairy goats. In 2014, we moved to our new farm in Topeka, Kansas. In the fall of 2015, we made the very tough decision to disperse our LaMancha herd after they would freshen in the spring. Over the preceding several years, we had several devastating losses within our LaManchas, and were left with only pieces of our breeding program. In the spring of 2016, we had an amazing opportunity to bring some incredibly strong Nubian does and started a new adventure. We will continue to retain only a small number of Nubians, but are very excited about their potential and future.
